Facebook Makes It Easier for Employers and Potential Employees to Connect
Meta recently announced that it is bringing the Jobs feature back to Facebook. The company shut it down in 2022, but has once again decided that it is useful to employers and potential employees alike. They can now connect with one another, and jobseekers can utilize the tool to find and inquire about local jobs. Meta says that those looking for entry-level, trade, and service industry employment in their community will be able to connect with local people and small businesses who are hiring. The feature is public and visible to all adults ages 18 years and older. "Finding a job should be easy and accessible," Meta said in a blog post. "Whether you’re looking for your first real job or a part-time gig, Facebook’s new job tool helps you find and apply for the kind of work you want. You can easily search for new jobs via our dedicated tab in Marketplace. Job listings will also appear across Groups and Pages, and you can filter and sort jobs on the Marketplace Jobs subtab by category, distance, and job type." Jobseekers can search for new jobs via the dedicated tab in Marketplace. Additionally, job listings will appear across Groups and Pages. They can be filtered and sorted on the Marketplace Jobs subtab by category, distance, and job type. Meta recommends that jobseekers connect directly with employers by reaching out to them via Messenger to ask questions or schedule interviews. It also recommends researching an employer via their Facebook Page.
Facebook will highlight what it deems are the most relevant job opportunities to users based on their job browsing history. This should help employers get in front of highly relevant candidates with little to no effort on their end. An employer can create a job listing on Facebook through Marketplace, their Page, or via the Meta Business Suite. It has to be done using a mobile device, however. The feature does not work on PCs. Facebook does offer assistance on setting one up through Android or iPhone devices. "These new features help you to quickly discover nearby opportunities and reach out to employers directly — all in one place. Whether you’re looking for part-time work, your first job, or people to hire, Facebook is here to help you take the next step." Facebook has clear rules about the types of jobs that are not able to be posted. These include those involving illegal and adult products/services, misleading or fraudulent jobs, impersonation, multilevel marketing, those with no employment opportunities, those that solicit personal information, and those that contain profanity or bad grammar. Postings must also not discriminate against any race, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status, disability, medical or genetic condition. Most legitimate small businesses should be able to find great new hiring opportunities by reaching candidates in their area who are actively seeking work. Read other business articles |
