The Benefits of a Generous Spirit

The Benefits of a Generous Spirit

Did you know studies have shown that simple acts of kindness and generosity can relieve pain? They can also boost your immune system and help your heart.

And they’re good for business, too.

Success is a result of having a generous spirit toward those who help you win. It attracts talented, passionate people who care enough to go the extra mile. I believe most successful business leaders will tell you what they do isn’t as much about the money as it is having the opportunity to serve others whiledoing something they love. Being generous is a hallmark of people who live successful lives and who operate business with heart.

There are plenty of groups and individuals who could use your help during the holiday season, and one of the best ways to show your team they’re part of a caring organization is by getting involved in the community. Lots of companies give products and services free of charge this time of year, but how about taking your generosity even further? Hold a fundraiser for a local charity or school. In the process, give team members time off to lend a helping hand in person.

Make sure your team is properly taken care of, too, with generous pay and other financial rewards. But remember, these rewards don’t all have to be financial. Do you know of a great bakery nearby? Pick up several boxes of doughnuts and pastries one morning for everyone to enjoy. Is there a popular restaurant in town? Provide lunch one day with everyone’s favorites – or better yet, take them out to lunch. Signed, personalized cards with notes thanking your team members for all their hard work and recognizing individual accomplishments will mean a lot, also.

Trust me, if you invest in your team the returns will be so much greater than any cash or time you spend to make it happen!
